The EDIG (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Geoscience) project is a volunteer-led, online initiative aiming to make geoscience more inclusive, accessible, and equitable for everyone.
EDIG originated from an academic EDI committee within Ireland but expanded outward to include a global volunteer base, comprising individuals from diverse sectors, experiences, and places around the world. We are continually working to improve our understanding and awareness, aiming to bring more people into these conversations, especially those who do not feel they belong, so we can make real, significant change together.
EDIG was formed to bring EDI conversations to the forefront and to provide a platform where people can listen and learn in a safe environment, free of judgment. We hope that by doing so, we can all come together and move forward together. We all need to be part of the change to create a more equitable and inclusive geoscience world: we can’t make real change without input from all levels and areas. We are all learning, so let's be patient, open, and respectful of each other.
Contributing to making geoscience more equitable and inclusive for everyone is a small change that we can all make.
Now is a time to listen, learn, and act.
Thank you,
